Have you always wanted to try scuba diving but don't want to commit to a course? This is the opportunity you have been waiting for! Join the world of scuba diving and gain access to the 71% of the planet you have been missing out on! Our passionate and experienced instructors sill introduce you to a truly life changing experience on the stunning reefs of utila. After completing this experience you will not be certified diver but you will be able to upgrade to the open water course at any time.
What You Should Expect
You can expect to be blown away during this half day experience learning about the basics with a PADI Instructor. The session starts with a briefing and some quick theory before moving onto putting on the equipment and entering shallow water. Once in the water the instructor will have you practice four key skills to be able to enjoy your open water experience.
+ What You'll Need
You will need a swimsuit, towel, reef safe sunscreen and some dry clothes for after. Some participants will also need medical clearance from a medical professional prior to any in water activity. See the medical below!
+ How Long It Will Take
The discovered scuba diving experience is a half day excursion. You can choose between a morning or an afternoon trip! If you plan to do it in the morning please sign up the night before!

Open Water Course Structure
Paperwork & Briefing
This can either be done online prior to your arrival to utila or in one of our air conditioned classrooms. We will start with paperwork followed by a detailed knowledge and safety briefing to ensure you understand the basic fundamentals of diving.
Confined Waters Training
Confined waters training is necessary to introduce and practice the four required skills in a calm, clear and controlled environment. Here is where you will also learn what each piece of equipment does. Once in the water an instructor will demonstrate each necessary skill to get you discovering the reefs around Utila.
Open Water
You will take one of our comfortable shaded boats to one of the many wonderful dive sites surrounding utila. Once there your instructor will conduct another briefing reviewing everything you have learned and practiced so far. You will enter the water and be taken on a tour of the dive site to a maximum depth of 12 meters 40 feet.
Knowledge Development
Theory first! This can either be done online prior to your arrival to utila or in one of our air conditioned classrooms. We will start with videos and knowledge reviews prior to getting you in the water to ensure you understand the basic fundamentals of diving.
Confined Waters Training
Confined water training is necessary to introduce and practice skills in a calm, clear and controlled environment. Here is where you will learn what each piece of equipment does, how to set it up, put it on and then enter the water for the first time! Once in the water an instructor will demonstrate each necessary skill needed to dive safely such as clearing a mask, recovering your regulator and buoyancy skills that will get you flying over the reef with ease in no time!
Open Water Sessions
The moment that you will be able to take all of your new found knowledge and skills to the reef! You will take one of our comfortable shaded boats to one of the many wonderful dive sites surrounding utila. You will get four open water dives during the course. The first open water day will have a maximum depth of 12 meters 40 feet. The second day will take you to 18 meters 60 feet.
