PADI Platinum Course Director at Underwater Vision, Utila Honduras

Diego learned to dive in 2001 while on vacation in Thailand.  Breathing underwater blew his mind and immediately upon completion of his PADI Open Water Diver course, he signed up for the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course, his PADI Rescue Diver course and ultimately for a Career as a PADI Instructor.  Long gone are the days when he worked tirelessly in his suit and tie as a commodities trader.

In the early days of his career in diving Diego worked in Thailand and later managed a liveaboard and resort in the Philippines.  He has been working on Utila, Honduras at Underwater Vision since 2008.  Diego has been a key element to the success of this resort.  Through his growth and success as a professional PADI diver, Underwater Vision has also grown and surpassed every expectation.  Today Diego enjoys the reputation as one of the few PADI Platinum Course Directors worldwide and Underwater Vision the status of PADI 5 Star Instructor Development Resort. With our combined momentum, Diego and Underwater Vision have now expanded from Recreational Dive courses, to Instructor Development at all levels, and ultimately are now on the way to enjoying the success of our new Technical Diving department.

Diego never shows signs of slowing down.  When he is not busy teaching a PADI IDC or IDC Staff Instructor Course, you'll see him working with our MSDT Interns or with 4 tanks strapped onto his Sidemount Harness. Amazingly, when he finally does have a day off you'll see him on one of our boats.  Even off duty Diego never tires of leading by example, and engaging with guests.  You'll often see him talking to novice divers....as if he missed teaching Open Water Courses!

Diego's is passionate about diving but more so he is passionate about teaching diving.  He never shies away from a "teaching moment". The PADI IDC is what he enjoys teaching most of all, along with TecRec Instructor Courses.  Taking a new instructor and teaching them how to become a successful and confident dive professional is what keeps Diego ticking as the mentor that he has been to so many.

Over the years Diego has built up quite a network of alumni.  His students enjoy success worldwide as dive instructors, working on liveaboards, managing resorts and owning their own dive operations.  Most of Diego's students take full advantage of his network and are quickly able to find a place for them to enjoy the dive lifestyle.
