PADI Search and Recovery Diver
It is a downer when you drop something of value in the water. A dive computer, a ring, a propeller or the rudder of a sailboat, all of it worth something to someone and sometimes, it is not an option to leave it there for someone else to find! Perhaps you entertain dreams of finding lost treasure such as that rumoured to be lost by Captain Morgan in the waters surrounding Utila or want to get into a type of marine archaeology.

PADI Sidemount Diver
Having scuba tanks on your back isn’t a requirement for exploring the underwater world. Many scuba divers have discovered the joy of mounting cylinders on their sides. Sidemount diving gives you flexibility and streamlining options. Plus, you don’t have to walk with heavy cylinders on your back – just enter the water, clip them on and go. Sound interesting? Sign up for the PADI Sidemount Diver Specialty course.
PADI Underwater Naturalist
One of the most interesting aspects of scuba diving is encountering the creatures of the aquatic ecosystem and observing their interactions with one another. Curiosity may lead a diver to wonder what exactly the relationships between the different species on the reef surrounding Utila and elsewhere are, and how they interact in both beneficial and non-beneficial ways. Take a step beyond fish identification and learn about the relationships between plant, animal and environment.
PADI Underwater Navigator
Don’t follow the leader…BE the leader! Learn to orientate and navigate yourself around the divesites of Utila so that you will ALWAYS return to the boat (or entry point), and be the diver everyone else wants to follow! Many of the dive sites in Utila are ‘wall dives’ which means that divers generally use a timing device and follow the wall in one direction, then turn around and return to the boat when the dive is about half way through. This takes some practice to become proficient, but it is a fairly easy skill to master. However, once you have dived the walls you will want to explore more!
PADI Wreck Diver
Wreck diving is some of the most exciting recreational diving there is! The story each wreck tells, whether sunk on purpose to create an artificial reef or as the result of an accident is tantalizing and food for the imagination! Around the world there are an uncountable number of diveable wrecks to be explored. Airplanes, war ships, junks, tall ships, automobiles and more!
